Sick Day

Well. The verdict is in. My tonsils hate me. I’ve been sick for a week, and finally decided to see a professional---not that I’m not related to 2 RNs and an NP or anything. Apparently I have tonsillitis. What does this mean? It means I can’t swallow. Or eat. Or talk. Or yawn. Or work. Especially work—not that I didn’t try. I got sent home.

So I’m sitting her at my parent’s, enjoying an orange/grape/blueberry/carrot smoothie. And while I’m sitting here, enjoying my orange/grape/blueberry/carrot smoothie, I thought I’d post Halloween some happiness =)

(I wrote this a couple years ago one random night when I was working the graveyard shift. I just ran across it today, and it made me happy. So I wanted to share )

• Unexpected text messages
• Good hair days
• The strumming of a guitar, accompanied by male singing
• Unbelievably romantic happy endings
• Double Stuf Oreos dipped in milk
• Playing catch
• Late night converstations about nothing
• The Bellagio Fountains
• Sleeping in the sun
• Cute shirts on sale
• Being beautiful for someone
• Sarcasm
• McDonald's hot fudge ice cream sundae from the dollar menu
• Memorial Day
• Typing without looking at the keyboard and without making any mistakes
• Grey's Anatomy
• Dad singing in the mornings
• Freshly waxed eyebrow skin
• Pull Throughs
• Falling asleep on the phone to the sound of a voice telling stories...and not hanging up until the next morning
• Eyeliner that doesn't smudge
• Arby's curly fries
• Showtune Saturday Night
• Accomplishing a task without using the instruction manual
• Sunny days that fall comfortably at 84 degrees
• Red high heels
• Finishing a book and feeling sad that it's over
• Being grammatically correct
• Songs/Movies that involve crying
• Talking to a two year old about life
• Heated Seats
• Wearing non-white socks
• Homemade spaghetti sauce
• Cuddling with towels fresh from the dryer
• Love Letters
• Singing along with Broadway Musicals as loud as physically possible
• Being underestimated, then impressive
• Changing hair styles in harmony with life
• The feel of bedsheets on just shaven legs
• Laughter that causes sideaches
• Perfect kisses after long absences
• Disney movies filled with Damsels in Distress and Prince Charming to the Rescue
• Unchanging friendships, regardless of infrequent visits.
• ATMs that give out $5 bills.
• Turning left Green Arrows
• Never ending games of Hand and Foot
• Grandma's rolls
• Finishing a dream from beginning to end with no interruptions
• Finding inspiration and answers in unexpected places
• Lazy days filled with nothing but comfy couches and Tivo.
